One important thing we're learning about in our brain study is how important it is to do challenging things- these things are what keep our brains growing and stretching. To help keep us challenged, we've introduced "Smart Toys." These are puzzles of varying challenge level. To make things more challenging (and to keep students vocabularies growing), we're also having the students explain to a friend how they're making each puzzle.
Our first puzzle is called Peek A Boo Bunny. (We'll introduce two others in coming weeks.) The challenge is to re-create a picture using 3 different blocks and a bunny. This requires flexibility in thinking, problem-solving, and spatial awareness. Explaining how they created the picture to a friend helps them hone their language and communication skills.
