Email is a wonderful way to reach me- I am able to consistently check my email at 11:00 am (and often during the afternoon). Please understand that during the school day it is challenging for us to answer the classroom phone.

Program Philosophy
From DPS Early Education: The mission of the Early Childhood Education Program is to create an integrated and comprehensive system of diverse, high quality early childhood education and care services that enhances the development of young children so that they are "ready to succeed" when they enter school; to support families in their role as nurturers and first teachers; and to meet the needs and financial abilities of Denver's working parents.
About the Grown-Ups.
Sydney Schoonmaker, ECE Teacher
I am a Colorado native, born in Boulder and raised in Littleton. Prior to working at Denver Green School, I participated in the Boulder Journey School Teacher Preparation Program while completing my masters in Early Childhood Education. I've been at DGS since we opened in 2010, and have been a Partner since 2012. I am so excited to be at DGS where I can be a part of a community that is embracing a positive view of children and realizing that we must give them the tools to lead us to a bright, green future. I feel lucky to be a part of such a dynamic, supportive staff, and to be given the opportunity to teach children in such a wonderful, hands-on environment. When I'm at not at school, you can find me in my garden, at yoga, or hiking with my dog, Lola.
Amanda Eike Koehler, ECE Student Mentor
I grew up in Iowa and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English. I worked as a librarian for 2 years, and I’ve been a student mentor with Denver Public Schools for the past 3 years. I’m excited to encourage students’ imaginations and foster a love of learning and a respect for everyone they meet. In my free time I write short fiction, bake, garden, and spend time with my husband, Derek.
