In September, each student drew a self portrait. This week, we asked the students to draw a new one. Below are the portraits side by side. Check out how much we've grown!

Without question, this class's favorite author and illustrator is Mo Willems. For the past few weeks, the students have been drawing pictures of Mo Willems' characters in the studio and writing letters to him in the writing center. Today, a few students helped write this letter: Dear Mo Willems, We are kids in the ECE class at Denver Green School. We are 5 and 4. You are our favorite author and illustrator. We love the pigeon, Piggie, the three dinosaurs, Gerald, Knufflebunny, Trixie, Leonardo, Edwina, and Reginald Von Hoobie Doobie. We drew pictures for you! Love, Denver Green School ECE And then we put all of it in a big envelope and wrote Mo Willems' address on it.
On Monday, Ms. Detmer's 3rd grade class invited us to morning meeting. (We have been borrowing Mo Willems books from their class for awhile now.) Today, we were finally able to join them. Their white board message even had drawings of Mo Willems' characters on it! We were pretty excited. They taught us a new moose greeting! And then we got to play a game called statues with the whole class. We're excited to join them again in the coming weeks.
Today, we counted that there are only 20 days left of ECE! We talked about how after ECE comes kindergarten, and we realized that the class had a lot of questions about kindergarten. We put together a list of questions, and we will send these to the kindergarten teachers- and hopefully get real, live kindergarten students to come give us some answers!
We're excited to learn more about kindergarten in the coming weeks! |
