Thanks for sending in so many apples- we put the students to work peeling, coring, and slicing the apples. Luckily, we had just the tool... We put all the apple slices in two big crock pots. We added two spices- Pumpkin Pie Spice and Cinnamon. We also added some apple juice so the apples wouldn't burn. The apples cooked for a long time- and then Ms. Sydney used an immersion blender to mix everything up.
The best part was eating the warm applesauce after nap time! After consulting with the acting Excursion Coordinator (currently Kartal Jacquette- Mr. T's wife had a baby!) and the weather forecast, we have decided that the ECE Tree Walk will be on Wednesday, November 5. We will be walking around the neighborhood to learn about the trees right here in the DGS neighborhood! Please send your child in weather-appropriate clothing and shoes for walking!
After determining the date for the Tree Walk, we have scheduled our Applesauce Party (also known as making-and-eating day) for Thursday, November 6. Please send in an apple on or before Thursday if you haven't yet. Thanks for being flexible with these two events- it's challenging to schedule events that are weather-dependent! (And events that are dependent on these events! So many dominos...) No School Days
