One of the things that makes Denver Green School such a special place is that we have our very own farm. Sprout City Farms is located on our playground- right behind the swings. Today, for ECE's second excursion, we had a chance to visit.
We got to see the orchard with pear, peach, and apple trees, found green beans, tomatoes, eggplant, and even got to try a freshly picked (and washed!) carrot. Farmer Meg gave each student a green bean leaf- they're sticky like velcro.
Interested in volunteering on the farm? There are drop-in volunteer hours each Saturday from 10-12. You can also buy produce from the farm each Wednesday at the farm stand next to the parking lot.
