Today during morning meeting, we showed the students a state map of Colorado. They knew it was a map right away, however, it took some time to figure out it was a state map. Here are a few of the ideas the students had about what the map could be:
"A street map- the red lines are streets" -Eli
"A mountain map, the green is all mountains" -Yoav
"A road map- the red lines are roads" -Malachi
(We then discussed if roads and streets are the same thing. We decided sometimes they are.)
"A forrest map- the green are trees" -Gia
"It's a paper map!" -Rebeca
"A map that shoes you where you want to go" -Amara
"A map of Denver! Like Denver Green School" -Eli
Jayden pointed out the picture of the mountains, and Ms. Sydney spelled the word above the mountains.
